この連続撮影の29分という制限は、もともとは2007年にEC（欧州委員会）が定めた製品分類で、800×600ピクセル以上、23fps以上、連続撮影時間30分以上という3つの条件を満たすカメラをビデオカメラとして、関税率4.9％を適用しようという動きに対抗したものだ。デジカメ自体は無税のため、連続撮影時間を29分にしているわけだ。
